Week 5
- The big question addressed in lab, and a description of what you did
- The big question that we worked with in lab this week had to do with the safest material that a playground's ground should be made of. Each group got an egg, and we had to create a safe ground made out of different options of materials. My group did a base of sand, wood chips, rubber chips, and then a layer of hay on top. We then dropper the egg from 1 meter. Our egg survived the first drop, so we added a little more sand and hay, and dropped the egg again, but this time at a height of 2 meters. Our egg broke the second drop. This lab helped us to understand how energy is transferred when dropped and how it is absorbed based on the different materials.
